Zwischen den Säulen

Markus&Markus

The performance collective Markus&Markus is part of the so-called German-German mainstream society. They use theater as an opportunity to not only look at a range of topics from the outside but also to examine them from within. Zwischen den Säulen documents the journey into one of the Abrahamic religions: Islam. A scavenger hunt with an unknown goal which chases the hints of an unknown game master - in a search for connections and similarities instead of demarcation and differences.

Artists

Markus&Markus are a theater collective from Hildesheim, Germany founded in 2011. Its members are Lara-Joy Hamann, Katarina Eckold, Markus and Markus Wenzel. The works are characterized by intensive research, whose results are then edited together into films. These video projections form the cornerstone of their live performances. However, the collective is not interested in reproducing reality; instead, they focus on the ways in which the stage and reality interact.
