MADONNA

Richter/Meyer/Marx (Berlin)

The Virgin Mary – saint or whore? The role of the Virgin Mary always appears in a powerful pictorial style and especially demonstrates how the role of the woman has been subjected to questions and condemnations in male-dominated religions right up until the present day.  MADONNA follows up on this, using elements from art, dance and pop history to do so. Monteverdi’s „Vespro della Beata Vergine“, along with samples of the songs by the pop icon Madonna, provide a musical foundation.
